The Music from my Eastern Europe 2012 Holiday
Just got back from a two week holiday with fantastic friends and there are two songs incidentally that have been ingrained into my head as a result of hearing them constantly.
First up would be the following track:
Being in Eastern Europe there are very few channels in English, mostly in Russian which had me watching BBC over and over again. As you would know by now the Olympics would be held in London. So, being all patriotic and stuff BBC has to run ads for the London Olympics and they chose “Lights” by Ellie Goulding.
I think the chorus immensely fits the ad very well. I would hear on every commercial break!
Next, would be the “Somebody I Used to Know” by Gotye:
You would hear in every cafe, restaurant, square, mall and shop. The song being pretty popular is an understatement.
Honestly, I initially thought that the song was a new single by Sting, the chorus is a pitch perfect reproduction. And the Internet is in agreement!
Compare the vid to this song by The Police:
You show the lights that stop me turn to stone You shine it when I’m alone And so I tell myself that I’ll be strong And dreaming when they’re gone
‘Cause they’re calling, calling, calling me home Calling, calling, calling home You show the lights that stop me turn to stone You shine it when I’m alone
